Heyden Quarter Horses is a family owned and operated horse breeding and training operation. Through years of experience, we have selected for an all-around athletic horse, with a balanced conformation, willing attitude and superior looks. We raise high quality cutting and cow horse bloodlines that will excel on the ranch or in the arena for all skill levels of leisure and performance riding.

Heyden Quarter Horses was founded in 1974 by Vic and Karen Heyden of Larchwood, Iowa.

​Vic's interest and experience breeding, raising and training horses however, began much earlier, under the mentorship of his father, Lyle Heyden. They started simply with the goal to raise quality, trustworthy horses for their own use.

​

Through the years it has truly grown into a family endeavor. Vic and Karen's two son's, Chad and Heath, have enriched the breeding and training programs with quality cutting and cow horse bloodlines and a natural training aptitude, enhanced under professional trainers and instructors. 

 

Now days, the grandkids are showing interest in following in the footsteps of their grandfather and are proving to be adept horsemen and women themselves!
